It’s been a while. Man, it’s crazy how fast three weeks fly by. I haven’t been posting as much as I wanted to (at all) because getting a book ready for publishing is a lot more time-consuming than I thought. I fricken did the hard part. I wrote the damn book. Why can’t this final hurdle be easy?
Not to mention that life, in general, has been busy. I’ve been struggling to wear shoes with laces, let alone write.
Tales & Treasure News
However, there is some pretty exciting news on the Tales & Treasure front. The ebook is available for pre-order! The paperback will be ready soon, too…I hope.
Formatting is tedious, to say the least. These widows and orphans will be the death of me, but I’m close; only a few more chapters to go.
If you’ve made it this far and read Tales & Treasure, or liked the cover, or skimmed through a chapter, or accidentally stumbled across it while searching the internet, a review would go a long way, but no pressure. I’m just happy that it’s available for others to read. It’s a story I’m proud of, a story I like, and I hope you like it too.
P.S.
I’m thinking about making audio versions of each chapter of Tales & Treasure. I'm not sure if it’s a good idea or not, so we’re doing a poll.
Other News
Now that Tales & Treasure is out there in the world, and I can’t spend my free writing time putzing around with foreshadowing and character development, I’ve got to find some way to keep you entertained/engaged in the world of Emre. No one wants to subscribe to a newsletter that’s just three week updates that aren’t updating that much. I better start writing.
I thought about doing some writing or self-publishing advice, but there is so much of that, and what do I know? Definitely not enough to have something new to add to the already-flooded conversation. I better stick to fiction.
I have several story ideas bouncing around and in various states of assembly. I could focus on Bards & Bargains, the sequel to Tales & Treasure. That’s probably what I should do, but where’s the fun in doing what you’re supposed to? I better get to the point.
Instead, I’ll be posting a story specifically for Substack–something entirely new. A fast-paced, digestible fantasy serial that’s easy to read on a phone app, email companion, or desktop. I’ve read a lot of the serials on here and the ones I keep coming back to are the engaging, well-written stories that I can read in 10 minutes or less. I’ve been inspired by this awesome community and hope to add something cool to the rapidly expanding library.
The point. Right. So, A Pact of Thieves will be released once a week on Wednesdays with the first chapter coming September 18th. It’s a story about the founding of a rebellious group set on bringing freedom to the people of Emre. The Pact is mentioned throughout Tales & Treasure. I already have a short story about its leader, Dinardo (who will be one of the 3 POV characters throughout the serial).
Recap
Anyway, that’s enough rambling. Here’s the gist.

Thank you for reading. I can’t tell you how much it means to me.
You guys are awesome!
That sounds extremely cool and I’ll definitely be reading tales & treasure when I have the time. I read primarily audiobooks so it may take awhile but it sounds 100% like something I would love to read. Looking forward to following along on your journey. You’ve come so far already
Good luck, Rob! It's all very exciting.
